We ought to hate it with a deadly hatred!

I get a daily devo sent to me from Grace-Gems these devos are great.

You should sign up...

Heres a bit of Saturday's:

"You who love the Lord, hate evil!" Psalm 97:10

How much we ought to hate sin! Instead of . . .
loving it,
cleaving to it,
dallying with it,
excusing it,
playing with it--
we ought to hate it with a deadly hatred!

Sin is the great murderer, and thief, and
pestilence, and nuisance of this world!

Let us make no peace with it!

Let us wage a ceaseless warfare against it!

Biblical Counseling

Biblical Counceling is a very important ministry in the church, or it should be. Biblical Counseling is often replaced with psychology and various other gimmicks. We must begin to think about how we council people in a way that we can invest the timeless truths of the bible into the persons life. After all it is only the truth that can set someone free.

CCEF
say
“We believe the Bible is more than a book of facts, but truths that are intended to make a difference. God intends biblical truth to touch every area of our lives. But everyone faces moments when the truths of the Bible don't seem to make a difference. Can the Bible's hope really speak to my depression? Can the Bible's peace really speak to my anxiety? Can the Bible's love change even my marriage? At CCEF, we believe that the Bible speaks to all of life's problems, but sometimes everyone needs the careful thought and prayerful wisdom of another who can help us make the connections that make a difference.”

Here is a series of lectures on Biblical Counseling, have a listen and let me know what you think:

J. I Packer on the Wrath of God

A wee while ago I read J.I Packer's 'Knowing God' it is a classic! A must read! A quote that struck me in this book was this:

“No doubt it is true that the subject of divine wrath has in the past been handled speculatively, irreverently, even malevolently.  No doubt there have been some who have preached of wrath and damnation with tearless eyes and not pain in their hearts.  No doubt the sign of small sects cheerfully consigning the whole world, apart from themselves, to hell has disgusted many.  Yet if we would know God, it is vital that we face the truth concerning his wrath, however unfashionable it may be, and however strong our initial  prejudices against it.  Otherwise we shall not understand the gospel of salvation from wrath, nor the propitiatory achievement of the cross, nor the wonder of the redeeming love of God” (156).
