Did you see the video that was circling the other day? The one where the Christians in India were being beaten up and killed for there faith in Jesus. I did! It made me feel sick, angry, upset, convicted and challenged.
I always knew that Christians were persecuted, but this video, it made it real to me.
Orissa is an area in India which is notorious for the persecution of our brothers and sisters. Just last year radical Hindus went on a rampage that left around 50,000 Christian fleeing for their life's. Many of the churches in this area have been destroyed. There is even a few accounts of churches being demolished brick by brick even to the extent of removing the foundations! In Orissa it is illegal to convert to Christianity, to be baptised one is supposed to seek government approval.
Our brothers and sisters in persecution don't want our money, all they want is that we would pray for them, that they would have the courage to suffer well.
Ill leave you with 5 thoughts:
Do we have a clue what persecution is?
Do we pray enough for our brothers and sisters that are being persecuted?
What would you do in our persecuted brothers and sisters position?
Why are we in the west not really persecuted? Isn't the church supposed to be marked with persecution?
Do you find it strange that there are over 3,000,000 'gods' in India and you are not allowed to worship Jesus?
Lets join together and pray for our brothers and sisters in persecution.
Sola Dei Gloria
It is likely believers in the west will experience increasing persecution just as our fellow Christians are currently suffering in numerous places around the world. Thank you for reminding me to pray for the persecuted church.
